Summary:

Minimum Qualifications:

A recognized degree or diploma in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, OR a professional license in an appropriate engineering discipline from a recognized licensing board, OR
Sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general engineering or appropriate engineering disciplines to meet job requirements, AND
Practical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience in allied types of engineering sufficient to demonstrate competence as a trained engineer
Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written)
Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards
Intermediate to advanced computer skills
Typical Responsibilities:

Prepares and/or develops 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings from design concepts by senior designer/engineer within the discipline or from design documents of the front-end disciplines
Prepares portions of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers
Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned
Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline
Is responsible for the accuracy of bulk material quantity take-offs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline
Works with designers in other disciplines in the overall assignment to coordinate designs.
May develop work plans, budgets, and schedules for basic designer tasks based on input and direction from supervisor in designated discipline when assigned
Answers questions from client or construction group on design for assigned responsibility
Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls, as instructed
Prepares design calculations used in the discipline
Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction
Ensures compliance with approved design standards in own work and by those assigned, to provide quality design
