Design Group is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Cost Specialist for our local Edmonton EPC client.
Required Experience:
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a Project Controls related field with increasing levels of responsibility
Minimum Qualifications:
• A recognized engineering degree, technical school diploma or equivalent work experience to the degree necessary to perform the responsibilities below
• Self motivated with willingness to take on increasing responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written)
• Knowledgeable of industry and regulatory codes and standards.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Typical Responsibilities:
• Support or take a lead role in developing and implementing for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards. Perform performance monitoring and control functions for specific applications per applicable procedures.
• Maintain cost budgets and accurate cost forecasts, utilizing a change management system and monitoring project status. Perform cost data and cash flow analysis.
• Support or develop specific project code of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions. This includes training in the proper use and definitions for the cost accounts.
• Maintain or coordinate the project cost change management system (trending).
• Prepare cost data for proposals and contract negotiations.
• Develop quantity takeoffs for a discipline or specialty using defined documents or undefined scope assumptions. Verify quantities provided by others.
• Coordinate/prepare information input into specific cost studies. Evaluate study results and recommend conclusions for project team consideration and discussion.
• Identify or define data sources and techniques for data acquisition and collects required data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
• Create and implement measurement systems for given processes, analyze performance metric results, and recommend improvements.
• Maintain field quantity unit rate reports and monitor performance factors.
• Monitor progress of field contractors.
• Coordinate the performance of, pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quantity assumption, and cost allowances within a discipline or other specialty.
• Prepare and review distributable and/or contractors indirect cost estimates; developing basis for temporary facilities, miscellaneous construction services, construction tools and equipment, non-manual manpower, startup services, payroll taxes and insurance, camp facilities and operation, and other field office costs.
• Assist the estimating team to determine scope definition requirements for a discipline or other specialty, and works with Engineering and other sources to coordinate the production of required data to conform to the overall estimate preparation plan.
• Prepare cost reconciliations during preparation of estimates and performs data analysis, identifies problems, and makes recommendations.
• Take a lead role re-cast project estimates into manageable cost control budgets per project requirements.
• Contribute to Project Progress Reports as delegated.
• Maintain the project job hour control system.
• Prepare project financial reporting per client's requirements.
• Gather historical project data for close-out reporting.
