Design Group has partnered with one of Canada’s leading consulting engineering firms to assist them in their search for a Senior Building Science Engineer

The position will involve the application of engineering principles to solve a wide range of building engineering problems. Projects include the full range of new building construction, forensic investigation of building problems, and rehabilitation of existing buildings.


Responsibilities:


•Conducting building assessments and audits and provide recommendations with sound technical judgment


•Preparing contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with project team for delivery to client.


•Documenting study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes and reports as a record of events.


•Providing direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions and assign work to appropriate individuals.


•Liaising with clients to exchange information regarding project progress.


•Providing technical judgment.


•Conducting business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation.


•Preparing site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients.


•Reviewing shop drawings and design details by analyzing for continuity and viability.

Requirements:


•Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Diploma in Building Sciences, Environmental Management or related disciplines


•Professional Engineer, eligible to enroll with APEGGA or CET


•Minimum of 8+ years related experience


•Experience in the building/facilities or an industrial environment is desired.


•Project Management experience including staff, budget and schedule control is preferred.


•Ability to work independently and in a team environment.


•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.


•Excellent written and verbal communication skills


•Proven organizational, planning, facilitation and communication skills.


•Proven stakeholder relationship, presentation, and documentation skills.


•Detailed knowledge and understanding of accepted industrial standards and methods.
